This year we've been spoiled with an abundance of incredible box sets from some of the most iconic and influential artists of all time; each beautifully presented and overflowing with bonus material, previously unheard tracks, remasters, imagery and more. 1999 is considered to be one of the most iconic and influential double albums in rock history. The album marked a major turning point in Prince’s career, as he crossed over from the R&B charts to the mainstream with mega-hits like “Little Red Corvette,” “1999,” and “Delirious” that shattered innumerable barriers with his revolutionary blend of rock, funk, R&B and new wave pop, and making history by being one of the first black artists to have their videos in heavy rotation on MTV.

The 1999 Super Deluxe Edition represents the deepest dive to date into Prince’s legendary vault and includes a total of 65 audio tracks across five CDs and ten 180g vinyl records, showcasing the creative flow Prince had tapped into during this intensely prolific period. 2. David Bowie | Conversation Piece

The David Bowie Conversation Piece box set tracks Bowie’s early development throughout 1968 and 1969, via his home demos, BBC radio sessions, studio recordings with guitarist John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson and more. The collection also celebrates the 50th anniversaries of the “Space Oddity” single and David’s second album, David Bowie (aka Space Oddity).

The box set contains twelve previously unreleased tracks/demos from the period as well as a brand-new mix of the Space Oddity album by longtime Bowie producer/collaborator Tony Visconti; as well as a 120-page hardback book featuring exclusive memorabilia from the personal collection of those closes to the late star. Muse’s incredible debut album, Showbiz celebrated its 20th Anniversary recently and to mark the occasion, the band have released a deluxe boxed set called Origin of Muse. The comprehensive collection chronicles the band from their early beginnings in Devon, with their early demos, first Eps, debut album and breakthrough record Origin of Symmetry.

The collection is housed in a stunning 48-page casebound book that contains an extensive and in-depth interview with the band as they talk about their earliest beginnings, as well as the recording and release of their debut album Showbiz through to Origin of Symmetry; and much much more. 4. Woodstock 50 – Back To The Garden: The Anniversary Collection

Between August 15-18, 1969, more than 400,000 people converged on Max Yasgur’s 600-acre dairy farm in upstate New York for Woodstock. Thirty-two acts performed at the now-infamous event, including some of the era’s biggest stars, such as Joan Baez, The Band, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone, and The Who.

5. Factory Communications 1978-92 [8LP Vinyl]

Factory Communications: 1978-92 pays tribute to the legendary Factory Records label as well as its dedicated founder, the late Tony Wilson. The project celebrates one of the most important labels in UK pop history as it championed the up and coming New Wave artists who would go on to more or less define the British sound in the decade that followed.

This very special box set, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Factory Records, features rare and previously unheard material from a diverse range of acts, including cuts from New Order, Joy Division, The Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Electronic, A Certain Ratio, Section 25 and many others.
