Clear some space on the collectibles shelf – there’s a bobblehead figurine depicting the legendary moment Jimi Hendrix set his guitar on fire at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival headed our way.
It’s easily one of the most iconic moments in rock history. Fittingly, the joint project between the Hendrix estate and Kollectico will see a limited-edition run of just 1967 individually numbered bobbleheads, each “officially licensed, hand-sculpted and painted and come packaged in collector boxes,” according to guitar.com
The founder and CEO of Kollectico, Andrew S. Hazen, added of the exciting addition: “Jimi Hendrix has always been a huge source of inspiration for me these past 40 something years. With such extraordinary imagery in his portfolio, this is an opportunity for us to use our creativity to honour Jimi Hendrix with exceptional limited-edition collectables for Hendrix fans around the globe.”
Jimi Hendrix | “Wild Thing” [Monterey Pop Festival, 1967]
The bobblehead depicts the legendary moment on 18 June 1967, when Hendrix doused his Fender Strat in lighter fluid and set it on fire during his set at the Monterey Pop Festival, kneeling in front of it, as though conjuring the flames from within. 17-year-old photographer Ed Caraeff captured the moment in an image that has easily become one of the most iconic in all of rock history.
