A New Old Hit From Foreigner

Foreigner had a huge hit with their 1987 song, "I Don't Want To Live Without You", recorded with former singer Lou Gramm. Now they've revealed a new version of the track (that originally appeared on their Inside Information album) recorded with current singer Kelly Hansen, who's been in the band since 2005.

''This is a song I have always loved," lead guitarist Mick Jones told teamrock.com. "It has a special meaning for me as it was inspired by my mother. We decided to record it this time around with a modern sound and a greater guitar presence, as the original version was more of a keyboard song. It really worked nicely, and I’m very happy with it."

"I Don't Want To Live Without You" is taken from Foreigner's upcoming career-spanning compilation 40, which is set for release on May 19. The band celebrate turning the big 4-0 with "40 hits from 40 years" to coincide with their extensive 40th Anniversary world tour (unfortunately not looking set to visit Australia at this stage). Rhino Records will release 40 as a double-CD that includes 40 songs recorded between 1977 and 2017, and a double-vinyl version that features 23 songs released a little later on June 2.

Following their self-titled debut in 1977, Foreigner - now Mick Jones (lead guitar), Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar) and Chris Frazier (drums) - went on to record some of rock’s biggest anthems — "Juke Box Hero" and "Hot Blooded" — as well as the #1 smash "I Want To Know What Love Is". The group has 10 multi-platinum albums to its credit and is one of the best-selling bands of all time, with worldwide sales in excess of 75 million.

Find out more about 40 and see the full tracklisting here. Both versions of the compilation are available to pre-order now.
