The resounding musical takes a fearless look at what it means to be alive in 21st century America, ignited by the iconic 90s hits of Morissette's seminal smash 1995 album, including “You Oughta Know,” “Head Over Feet,” “Hand In My Pocket,” and “Ironic,” as well as 2 brand new songs written just for the show.
The story of Jagged Little Pill the Musical is centred around a seemingly perfect suburban family called The Healys, who are striving to hide the cracks beneath the surface but have their world turned upside down by a troubling event that shakes their entire community. Using themes and emotions in the original album, the musical tackles social issues with passionate storytelling that ultimately highlights hope and togetherness.
Jagged Little Pill features lyrics by Alanis Morissette with music by Morissette and six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard (who originally co-wrote and produced the 1995 album with Morissette) and an original story written by Oscar Award winner Diablo Cody (previous scripts include Juno, Tully). The production will be the first to relaunch the iconic Theatre Royal Sydney which has been undergoing a significant multi-million dollar refurbishment since 2016.
