Reading those words made me sad that he stayed long enough to see what happened yesterday in America. I feel it would have made him sad.

Maybe he chose to emigrate? 

I know they gave Dylan a literature prize but Leonard is easier to read off the page. A poet who chose the medium singing offered him.

On the day he left us remember:

"Well never mind, we are ugly but we have the music"

...And go and listen to the subtle mastery that is Chelsea Hotel. Or Suzanne. Or Bird on the Wire. Or Marianne. And wish he'd left us the other 87 verses of Hallelujah after all.

Might make you feel better about the Donald too. And remind you that back before Bieber there was a time when it was ok to be intellectual.
