Legendary pop singer, Cher will perform the Golden Girls theme song in an upcoming TV tribute honouring the beloved late actor, who passed away one month ago on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) at the age of 99.
White, who would’ve celebrated her 100th birthday just weeks after her death, was turned into a household name by her heartwarming role as the vague but lovable Rose Nylund on the hit US TV show, running for seven seasons 1985-1992.
The Golden Girls theme song, Thank You For Being A Friend, was originally written and recorded by Andrew Gold and performed by Cynthia Fee.
Cher will be performing the classic track in honour of White as part of an hour-long special, Celebrating Betty White: America’s Golden Girl, which will also feature appearances from Ted Danson, Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Goldie Hawn.
