Chicago’s classic live album from 1971, Chicago at Carnegie Hall celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The band is marking the occasion with a massive 16-CD deluxe edition release of the record-breaking run of shows. Chicago at Carnegie Hall Complete is out July 16 and available to pre-order now.

In 1971, Chicago proved what makes them one of the best-selling groups of all time when they played a record-breaking eight shows in six nights at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall, between April 5 and 10. The band was riding high on the success of Chicago III and played a cross-section the band played a cross-section of hits from their first three albums, including “Beginnings,” “Questions 67 and 68” and “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” Chicago at Carnegie Hall remains the band’s best-selling live album.
To honour the 50th anniversary of Chicago’s historic run at Carnegie Hall, all eight shows are being released in their entirety for the first time. Chicago founding member and trumpeter Lee Loughnane and engineer Tim Jessup spent nearly a year going through more than 40 concert tapes to compile Chicago at Carnegie Hall Complete. The collection is presented in a white folio embossed with the group’s trademark logo and completed with replica posters from the original vinyl release, original concert programs, tickets and a 28-page booklet illustrated with photos from the concerts. The 16-CD deluxe box set hits shelves on July 16.
