David Bowie is set to be honoured by a district in Paris by having a street named after him. A new road near Austerlitz station in the southeast of the French capital will soon be given the name ‘Rue David Bowie’ in tribute to the iconic artist.

The mayor of the 13th arrondissement district and self-professed Bowie fan, Jerome Coumet, told French news (via Yahoo News!), “He (Bowie) had a strong link with the city of lights.” Even though the naming won’t be approved until February, Coumet stated that approval normally happens without a hitch.

Bowie will also be immortalised in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography alongside George Michael and legendary producer, Sir George Martin. The book compiles the life stories of the most influential people in British History. Bowie’s entry reads, “His greatest legacy was in challenging and transgressing the gendered boundaries of his youth.”

Last week (Jan 10th) marked the fourth anniversary of Bowie‘s death, but as his life and legacy continue to reverberate the world, it seems his influence knows no bounds.
