Space Oddity (Limited Edition 1972 Picture Disc)

A picture-disc version of David Bowie's 1972 Space Oddity album is set to be released on Friday, April 17. The LP will feature iconic Ziggy Stardust era artwork, including the famous Mick Rock-shot photos of David that appeared on front and back covers on sides one and two of the original vinyl release, plus a replica of the cover-image poster that was part of the original packaging.

Space Oddity was first issued in the U.K. in 1969 under the title David Bowie. In November 1972, in the wake of Bowie’s breakthrough with The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, a reissue of the album peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200, while Space Oddity’s title track became Bowie's first top-40 hit in the U.S., reaching #15 on the Hot 100.

The picture disc will feature the 2009 40th anniversary remaster of the album which was undertaken to match as closely as possible the original vinyl issue. The Space Oddity (Limited Edition 1972 Picture Disc) is available to pre-order here
