Slash 2005 McFarlane Figurine: McFarlane
Have you ever been in that situation where you go to a friend’s house and notice they have a mad collection of action figures, still in their boxes - you can’t help but comment on them but your friend is already ushering you out of the room trying to create a diversion, like you’re going to somehow devalue them just with your eyes?
That’s because dolls for big kids are serious business! Rock and metal band figurines have been a fixation for fans and collectors alike for decades. Area-specific product categories and limited availability of products can turn them into high-stake items on the resale market.
Iron Maiden have just announced that their digipack release, The Studio Collection – Remastered will include an optional 1:24 scale figurine of their mascot 'Eddie', created by McFarlane Toys. It's a great excuse to check out the options when it comes to immortalised icons because, whether you're in it for the music or the toys, action figures are a world of pint-sized hardcore fun that can even turn a profit, if you know what you're doing.
On the lighter side of action figure collecting is a company called Funko, who specialise in exaggerated, comically stylised recreations of musical icons, rather than the to-scale, exact likeness recreations favoured by other producers. Their products might not fetch as much on the resale market (even in their boxes!) but are still sought-after collectors’ items, guaranteed to brighten the day of any avid fan.

And on the serious side collecting is McFarlane Toys, a well-established manufacturer of comic book and movie action figures and the leading creator of rock and metal figurines. They have released collections with a range of artists, including the Beatles, Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Slash, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury and Elvis Presley.

Rock icons, Kiss have sat comfortably at the top of the figurine market for decades. Their action-figure like outfits and penchant for clever marketing make them prime candidates for scale-sized recreation, with the band boasting over 2,000 product categories made in their image!

Now, Iron Maiden have announced that their digipack release, The Studio Collection – Remastered will include an optional 1:24 scale figurine of their mascot 'Eddie', created by McFarlane Toys, exclusive patch and specially designed box as a bonus for collectors. Previously released 'Eddie' action figures from 2002 are currently selling for well over $100, so this limited edition bonus pack is one release Iron Maiden fans and action figure collectors alike definitely won't want to miss!
