We don't have a release date yet, or a title, BUT, Led Zeppelin have confirmed the first ever official documentary film is coming, to celebrate the band’s 50th Anniversary.

The film is based around new interviews with the three surviving band members; Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page, and will include unseen footage and photos from the archives.

“The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words, and I think that this film will really bring that story to life.” - John Paul Jones

Currently in post-production, the film is directed by British film-maker Bernard MacMahon who made American Epic in 2017, a four-part documentary exploring roots music across the US, including folk, blues and Native American songwriting.

“When I saw everything Bernard had done visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is American Epic, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story,” - Jimmy Page

The storyline will focus on Led Zeppelin's development and rise to fame, as the three members each left session work and existing bands to come together in 1968, along with late drummer John Bonham. This means some of the most famous parts of their story will not be covered in this film.
