Eric Clapton’s 1992 MTV Unplugged concert was a landmark moment in music history. Recorded in London, the setlist was weighted heavily with Clapton classics, along with a selection of new material at the time, including Running on Faith and Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out

The stripped-down acoustic set showcased the undeniably stellar songwriting at the heart of Clapton’s blues-rock hits like Layla, and Tears in Heaven.

The show, praised for its raw emotion and passionate delivery, was a massive success, selling millions of copies when it was released as an album later that same year. Unplugged was nominated for nine Grammy Awards in 1993 and won six, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year. As well as being a testament to Clapton’s immense talent, the blues hits performed in such an intimate setting remain a powerful reminder of music’s ability to move people.
