Fans of ‘70s Australian singer-songwriters and esoterica take note!

US label Mexican Summer (who’ve also done deluxe vinyl reissues of Tamam Shud’s Evolution, Tully’s Sea of Joy and the various artists soundtracks for Morning of the Earth and Bali High on their Anthology label) are set to release the 20 track set (CD / 2LP / Download) Follow The Sun on May 7.

Featuring Doug Ashdown, Autumn, Gary Shearston, Billy Green and other lesser known lights, the album, according to Mexican Summer, “filters the sublime and sometimes subversive psychedelic airwaves transmitted around the world from America’s terrestrial platforms during the golden age of gentle, exploratory FM through a distinctly Australian lens.” Perhaps surprisingly, the album was compiled by Mikey Young of young punks the Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Total Control, and he’s dug deep.

If you like gentler tracks on Festival’s recent A Life in the Sun – A Celebration of Australian Surfing Film Soundtrack Music of the 60s & 70s you’ll love this.
