Fountains of Wayne's, Adam Schlesinger is being celebrated in a live stream tribute show next month, Adam Schlesinger, A Music Celebration, Virtual Show featuring dozens of rockers and actors.
The late rocker and TV composer sadly died from COVID-19 complications one year ago in April 2020. His extensive and varied career originated in mid-90s pop punk and over the years branched very successfully into film, TV and theatre; from penning the theme song for the Tom Hanks-directed film That Thing You Do! to famously serving as the executive music producer and primary songwriter of the TV show, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
On May 6th, a lengthy list of former collaborators will pay tribute to Schlesinger during the online event, primarily recorded at New York’s Bowery Electric, which is being produced by Jody Porter, his longtime bandmate in Fountains of Wayne.
“This is a proper musical send-off for my soul brother with a bunch of talented and groovy guests that would make Adam wince,” Porter said.
And he wasn’t exaggerating! The high-profile list of contributors includes James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins and Taylor Hanson who were both in his band Tinted Windows, Courtney Love, the Monkees’ Mickey Dolenz, Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional, Sean Ono Lennon, Drew Carey, the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze and many more.
Adam Schlesinger, A Music Celebration, Virtual Show will take place on May 6th at 10am (AEST) via the Rolling Live Platform. Tickets are $20 with proceeds going towards MusiCares and the Bowery Electric, which is currently closed. Tickets are available via the Rolling Live Studios website, here.
