After making his name as a guitarist, songwriter and co-vocalist in Cold Chisel, Ian Moss stepped out front and centre to release his debut solo album, Matchbook in 1989. While the album featured direct links to his Chisel past thanks to the appearance of Moss’ former bandmates Steve Prestwich and Don Walker, it was also a massive success on its own terms, peaking at #1 on the ARIA charts.

To celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of his iconic solo debut, Mossy and his four-piece band will hit the road in November and December 2019 to perform much-loved tracks from Matchbook, plus many more fan favourites. The six-week run of dates will take in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Wollongong, Newcastle, Adelaide and Perth.

“Like my loyal fan base, ‘Matchbook’ has been very good to me and it has allowed me to travel and play music that has been embraced by fans all over Australia and abroad. And for that, I am very grateful.” – Ian Moss.

Matchbook was co-produced by Chris Lord-Alge and Ian Moss and recorded between Sydney and Los Angeles. Showcasing exemplary, controlled guitar technique and soulful vocals, the album produced four iconic singles that would further establish Moss as one of the best songwriters of his generation: “Tucker's Daughter” (#2 on the ARIA Singles Chart), “Telephone Booth”, “Out Of The Fire” and “Mr. Rain”.

"Tucker's Daughter"

Matchbook cleaned up at the 1990 ARIA awards, taking home five awards from six nominations - Album of the Year, Best Male Artist, Breakthrough Artist – Album, Breakthrough Artist – Single and Song of the Year (shared with Don Walker) for “Tucker's Daughter” and a nomination for Single of the Year.

Any album that can pierce the barriers that lay between people from the city to the bush, from corporate office towers to shearing sheds in searing 40-degree heat, is unique! Matchbook is one such album. Get your copy of Matchbook on limited edition white vinyl HERE.
