The Jaded Hearts Club is the world’s newest supergroup, and they're shining a spotlight on "some of the greatest lost songs ever written." Featuring Nic Cester of Jet, Matt Bellamy from Muse, Graham Coxon from Blur, Miles Kane from The Last Shadow Puppets and Sean Payne from The Zutons – as Rolling Stone reports – the group was formed by guitarist Jamie Davis in 2017 when he couldn’t find a Beatles cover band to perform at his birthday party, so decided to make his own instead. 

Now, the group have just unveiled their second single, a glowing rendition of Marvin Gaye’s "This Love Starved Heart of Mine (It’s Killing Me)". The track is something of a rarity from Gaye’s catalogue, originally recorded in 1967 after the release of his breakout hit, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” but was only released on his 1994 compilation album, This Love Starved Heart: Rare and Unreleased.

"As soon as I heard 'This Love Starved Heart Of Mine' I knew Nic Cester from Jet is one of the few people who could actually sing it,” guitarist and band founder Jamie Davis said in a statement. “Nic’s vocal has that gut-wrenching on-pitch scream and raw charisma that provide the driving power needed. The track is like a runaway train … big, brassy, brash… a soul classic."

In the few years since they first formed, The Jaded Hearts Club have performed some select shows … including one with special guest Paul McCartney … and have been working on an album of Northern Soul classics.

"We listened to hours and hours of songs from the Northern Soul/Motown period to choose the right 10 for an album," Matt Bellamy said. “This perfectly sums up what we are trying to do as The Jaded Hearts Club … to shed light on some of the greatest lost songs ever written.”

While a release date or album title is yet to be announced, "This Love Starved Heart of Mine" is the second single from The Jaded Hearts Club, following their debut rendition of the Isley Brothers' "Nobody But Me" which came out last month.
