Further to our piece on Monday about Dave Edmund’s retirement, here, we just discovered that some kind soul has posted some clips from one of his two last shows – a low-key spot opening for Brian Setzer in Finland that took place just last Friday, July 21.

The picture is a bit shaky but the audio is surprisingly good, and Dave is still in fine voice and of course playing beautifully.

We’ll kick off with a solid version of the Nick Lowe-written Buddy Holly soundalike from Tracks on Wax 4, “Deborah”, follow up with a stomping version of the tune that Bruce Springsteen gifted Dave, “From Small Things Big Things One Day Come”, and finish with a romping cover of Lazy Lester’s “Sugar Coated Love” (Dave covered Lester’s most famous song “I’m A Lover Not A Fighter” back in ’72.)

As a special bonus, and to acknowledge Dave and Brian’s friendship, we’ll show you a rarely seen (in Australia at least) video of Dave’s version of the early George Jones track, ”The Race Is On”, backed by the Stray Cats and taken from Dave’s 1981 Swan Song Records album Twangin’.
