Back in 2014, Mötley Cre ended their self-proclaimed ‘Final Tour’ with a showy press conference in Hollywood where the quartet signed a legal document known as a “cessation of touring” contract, that would (in theory) prevent them from ever touring under the Mötley Cre moniker again. Bassist and co-founder, Nikki Sixx said, “There is no amount of money that would ever make me do it again because I have such pride in how we’re ending it.”

“And if we did agree, the way we’ve set it up – including this conversation right now – we’d have so much egg on our face. We have so much pride that that alone would stop it.”

But it seems that the infamous quartet missed each other more than they anticipated and have decided, collectively, that they’re happy to have egg on their faces. Mötley Cre have just released this official video, announcing that it's time to get out your lipstick and leather – they’re back.

Mötley Cre Is Back!

The band doesn’t appear in the video, but Machine Gun Kelly, who portrayed Tommy Lee in the movie adaptation of The Dirt, announces that they are blowing up their “cessation of touring contract” because the fans demanded a reformation – which was no stretch. Rumours about this very moment reached fever pitch yesterday when the band shared an online petition calling for their reunion from their official Twitter account, saying nothing more than “Interesting…” before deleting the post soon after.

The Change.org petition titled ‘Bring Mötley Cre Back!’ was created by a young fan who was so inspired by The Dirt biopic that he decided to make it his life’s mission to see the Cre in the flesh. He posted the petition with a description reading: “After breaking the replay button on The Dirt film, it is clear to me that the only way to fulfil my urge for the Cre is for you guys to get back on the road. I know it’s not just me with this opinion; your movie has once again put you in the spotlight and built an entire new generation of Creheads who have a NATURAL BORN RIGHT to see you on stage. If the rumours circulating about a Mötley Cre comeback are true, then let this petition solidify it. The new fans need a new tour, PLEASE COME BACK.

If any fellow Creheads are reading this, please sign and share to voice your support!”

And Mötley Cre listened! Perhaps the band were flattered by the fact that the petition has almost surpassed its 15,000-signature goal or maybe they heard that you can now play rock shows for sharks. Back in February of this year, Sixx told Rolling Stone that the group had no plans to reform, despite expressing some doubts, “Sometimes I look out at my friends, like the guys in Aerosmith and Metallica, and I’m like, ‘God damn it, did we retire too soon?’” he said. “But there will be no one-offs in our future. Maybe we’ll just get together and jam in Mick Mars’ front room.”

With Rolling Stone reporting that a 2020 triple-threat stadium tour with Mötley Cre, Poison and Def Leppard is in the works –right now we’re wondering exactly how big Mick Mars’ front room is.
