Neil Young first recorded “Homefires” back in 1974 but, despite performing the track live ever since, has never officially released the recorded version – until now! After last week announcing his long-awaited, Archives Vol. II: 1972-1976 will officially arrive on November 20th, Young has shared a further preview from the massive 131 track collection.
“Homefires” features Young on vocals and guitar, accompanied by and Tim Drummond on bass. Young and Drummond also produced the track which was recorded at Young’s studio on Broken Arrow Ranch. You can listen to via the Neil Young Archives website, here. You can also listen to the track below.

Archives Vol. II: 1972-1976 will officially arrive on November 20th. The massive 10-CD track listing documents one of the most treasured eras of Young’s legendary career. Of the 131 tracks that make up the collection, almost half have never been released before, and another 49 give alternate versions of some of his most well-loved songs from the mid- ‘70s. The mammoth box set also contains a 252-page hardbound book featuring hundreds of previously unseen photos. Check it out here.
