Neil Young has taken another dive into his incredibly extensive vault of tunes, announcing the release of a “lost” album from the 1980s, called Johnny’s Island will finally be released as part of his ongoing Archives project. The album was originally recorded in 1982 at Commercial Recorders in Honolulu, Hawaii with the same team that produced the Trans LP, also in 1982.

“‘Johnny’s Island’ a complete album now being prepared for release at NYA, includes a majority of unreleased tracks including ‘Big Pearl,’ ‘Island In The Sun,’ and ‘Love Hotel,’ plus others you may have heard before,” Young wrote on his NYA website. “it’s a beautiful record coming to you soon.”

As Stereogum reports, Young has previously spoken about the album in a 1995 interview with Mojo, describing it as, “a tropical thing all about sailing, ancient civilisations, islands and water.”

Last month, Neil Young announced a very special 50th Anniversary Edition After The Gold Rush will be arriving as a Deluxe Vinyl box set in March this year. The album ranks among his most treasured works and is home to classic singles like “When You Dance I Can Really Love” and “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” – You can pre-order it, here.
