Neil Young has announced the upcoming release of a previously lost live album from 1971 called Young Shakespeare,  plus, an accompanying concert film.

The past year or so has a treasure trove of lost material unearthed from Young’s archives. This latest addition comes from a concert that took place at the Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut on January 22, 1971.

Listed as some of the earliest live footage of Young in existence, the show was originally filmed for a German television broadcast that was never aired publicly. The setlist features early cuts of tracks that would go on to become timeless classics, including “Old Man,” “The Needle and the Damage Done” and “Heart Of Gold.” Both the film and audio have been restored by Young’s team.

“Young Shakespeare is a very special event,” Young said in a statement. “[It’s] a more calm performance, without the celebratory atmosphere of Massey Hall, captured live on 16mm. To my fans, I say this is the best ever… one of the most pure-sounding acoustic performances we have in the Archive.”
