Pretenders' legendary frontwoman, Chrissie Hynde has teamed up with Fender to launch her own signature guitar.
The new custom axe pays homage to her “road worn” Ice Blue Metallic Telecaster which she purchased in New York City almost 40 years ago and has played on albums and tours since recording the band’s self-titled debut in 1980.
“My guitar tech, David Crubly, convinced me to launch a Fender Signature Telecaster by telling me it might encourage more people to get into bands and music,” Hynde said in a statement. “I hope that’s true and know that those who do, won’t look back.”
The new Chrissie Hynde Telecaster comes as part of Fender’s Artist Signature Series. Let her give you a closer inspection below.
Fender | Exploring The Chrissie Hynde Telecaster
According to an official description, the guitar features “an alder body finished in Faded Ice Blue Metallic Road Worn lacquer, a custom mid-‘60s “C”-shaped maple neck with a 7.25” radius fingerboard - exactly matching Chrissie’s original, vintage-output Chrissie Hynde Tele pickups and a chrome mirror pickguard…all matching the unmistakable look and feel of Hynde’s treasured ’65 model.”
