Get ready to party like it’s 1985! The Prince Estate has just announced that they will be streaming Prince and the Revolution: Live across three days via YouTube, starting this Friday morning. The concert recording will be available officially in digital format for the first time on Friday, 15 May. Fans can watch the pre-show here and full concert here.
The incredible performance was recorded at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY on March 30, 1985. The footage features members of the famed Revolution band, including drummer Bobby Z, guitarist Wendy Melvoin, keyboardists Lisa Coleman and Matt Fink and others. The concert was originally broadcast on TV and released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1985, followed by a DVD reissue as part of the 2017 Purple Rain Deluxe Edition.
The audio from the concert has been remastered by longtime Prince mastering engineer Bernie Grundman. From Friday, 15 May, the recording will be available for a limited time, via all digital streaming and download partners. To celebrate, the Prince Estate will host a YouTube watch party of Prince and the Revolution: Live from Thursday, May 14 – which is Friday, 15th at 10am AEST. An hour before the watch party, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a special pre-party Q&A with Revolution drummer, Bobby Z.
