The Easybeats became the first Aussie rock band to score an international hit in 1966 with the breakthrough single Friday On My Mind. During their six-year run, the band racked up an incredible 15 Top 40 hits in Australia, enjoying a level of local success that possibly rivalled the Beatles.

After the band broke up in 1969, songwriter and guitarist, George Young and bandmate Harry Vanda embarked on a legendary songwriting career that saw them continue to produce massive hits, including John Paul Young’s Love Is In The Air and Yesterday's Hero, and much of the early work of his younger brothers, Malcolm and Angus Young’s band, AC/DC.

We’re remembering that pivotal moment in 1967 when Aussie rock hit the world stage, with the Easybeats performing Friday On My Mind live on the German TV show, Beat! Beat! Beat! in 1967.
