R.I.P Catweazle & Crowman

Posted

We know a lot of you will be saddened by this news - Leeds-born actor Geoffrey Bayldon, best known for playing Catweazle and Worzel Gummidge’s Crowman has passed away at the age of 93.

As well as television and theatre, he appeared in many films in the 60s and 70s, including in The Pink Panther Strikes Again, Dracula and even Marc Bolan/T-Rex's concert film Born To Boogie. Although he appeared in Doctor Who, he famously turned down the lead role twice.

Let’s remember him with a bit of ‘electrickery’

And one last fun fact - did you know he provided the vocals for this track by Paul Hardcastle "The Wizzard" which was used as the theme music for BBC1's Top of the Pops.
