Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2017 Nominees

Posted

Nominees for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 have been announced and the list includes some new nominees and some who have been nominated on previous ballots.

2017 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominees:
Bad Brains
The Cars
Chaka Khan
Chic
Depeche Mode
Electric Light Orchestra
J. Geils Band
Jane’s Addiction
Janet Jackson
Joan Baez
Joe Tex
Journey
Kraftwerk
MC5
Pearl Jam
Steppenwolf
Tupac Shakur
Yes
The Zombies

The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a ‘fans’ ballot’ that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2017 inductees, so get voting here: https://www.rockhall.com/vote (you can vote once per day).

The Cars and J. Geils Band have previously appeared on ballots without getting inducted, so it would be good to see them recognised this time around. Then there's The Smiths and Nine Inch Nails, who have been on the past two nominee lists, but are not included this time around. But most hard done by has got to be rock band of the disco era, Chic, who have been nominated ten times previously! Perhaps 2017 will finally be their year.

Let's take a quick look at some of the biggest tracks from a few of the nominees...

Chic - Good Times

The Cars - Drive

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus

Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart

MC5 - Kick Out The Jams
