The legendary Fleetwood Mac frontwoman joined Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, who are close friends with Nicks, at the halfway point of the Heartbreakers’ main headline set in Hyde Park in London last night. Tom Petty introduced Nicks, who joined the band to sing her legendary 1981 hit "Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around", a collaboration between Nicks and the band that they recorded thirty-six years ago.

It was the first live UK appearance in 18 years for Petty and the band, who had taken a break from the US anniversary tour to be at the Hyde Park festival which coincided with the Heartbreakers’ fortieth anniversary.

Throughout the headline set, Petty promised to "drop the needle up and down" the band’s repertoire and pick hits from each era.

Some of the hits the band played included "I Won’t Back Down", "Free Fallin’" and "Learning To Fly".

Petty told the audience: "It’s great to be here. It’s has been far too long, and this beautiful London summer is amazing."

British Summer Time Festival has now drawn to a close but the 10-day-long affair attracted seminal musicians to Hyde Park for headline shows. Others to have played this year include Justin Bieber, Green Day, Phil Collins, The Killers and Kings of Leon.

Nicks played her own set at the festival earlier on in the afternoon, where she played her hits.
