The New Doctor Who Is A Woman For The First Time Ever

Jodie Whittaker  - who recently has starred in Broadchurch alongside with the 10th Doctor David Tennant - has been announced as Doctor Who's 13th incarnation. She will make her debut when the Doctor regenerates in the Christmas special.

335-year-old Whittaker, who has also appeared in Game of Thrones and a range of films including The Hunger Games, Star Wars, and Wonder Woman, has said “I want to tell the fans not to be scared by my gender. This is a really exciting time and Doctor Who represents everything that’s exciting about change.”

This is huge news that will shake things up. We at ILYOS are all for it. Check out the reveal here.

To acknowledge the process of change as typified by Doctor Who, let’s jump back to 1963 to have a listen to the very first recording of the Doctor Who theme, as recorded by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and then come back to the present to hear the current version. What an incredible and groundbreaking piece of music this remains.
