Neil Young & Crazy Horse have shared a brand new documentary about the making of their latest studio album, Barn, which arrived last month. You can stream it free, below.
The film, also named Barn, is directed by Young’s wife, Daryl Hannah (who was also behind the camera for Young's 2020 Lockdown Sessions). It documents the group writing and recording the album "under the full moon" in a 19th-century log barn at Young's picturesque Colorado ranch..
According to a press release, “It captures Neil and the Horse in an organic way, their easy irreverent humour, their brotherhood, and of course their music, as it was created.”
It continues, “Barn intentionally lingers on single shots for entire songs, showing there are no tricks, revealing the raw, organic and spontaneous process of the music bursting to life from unexpected moments.
“Exquisite changes of light and weather dance in the remote meadow where the barn sits, adding a sweet, mystical magic as the music thumps, reverberates and echoes. The film is infused with the gratitude and joy that permeated the whole experience.” Watch Barn below.

Last year, Neil Young & Crazy Horse first announced their 12th studio album, Barn, the follow up to 2019’s Colorado, back in June 2021 with a cryptic post saying “the Horse is back in the barn, shaking off the rust”. Get Barn, here.
