Linda Ronstadt was a trailblazing icon and now her remarkable story is the feature of an upcoming documentary, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. From her initial burst onto the 60s folk-rock scene as the lead singer of the Stone Poneys, to her rise as a rock-and-roll stadium artist – becoming the highest-paid female entertainer in rock, and the only female artist to have five platinum albums in a row – to her forays into every genre from country to mariachi, the documentary shows archived footage of the legendary singer, as well as interviews with her notable collaborators.
Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne, among others, recall the singer’s incredible talent and limit-pushing drive with awe; and Oscar-winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman explore Ronstadt’s artistic connection to her Mexican heritage and ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Throughout her illustrious career, Linda Ronstadt released over 30 studio albums, charted 38 singles, won 10 Grammys, 3 American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy, and was nominated for a Tony award before she retired in 2011. She dabbled in - and more or less mastered - all kinds of styles, from country to rock to jazz standards to opera to traditional Mexican music. Linda Ronstadt really could sing anything.
