A new video for Tom Petty’s “Something Could Happen” has been released, starring actor Lauren Cohan (from The Walking Dead). The song comes from the extensive Wildflowers & All The Rest collection which was released in October this year, expanding on Petty’s pivotal 1994 album, Wildflowers.

The music video premiered during a one-hour livestream on Tom Petty's YouTube channel during a livestream that also featured behind-the-scenes footage from the “You Don’t Know How It Feels” shoot and commentary from director Phil Joanou and Petty himself. Watch the clip below.

The music video was directed by Warren Fu, who said in a statement, “Looking back on Tom’s old music videos, it was obvious that he had a lot of fun with them and was not afraid to get a bit weird. I wanted to create another modern fairytale in the spirit of Tom’s music video for ‘Into The Great Wide Open.’”

Fu also explained how important it was to remain true to Petty’s story, saying, “I think the message I was trying to convey is that all our experiences, the good the bad, the beautiful and the painful make us who we are, and we should embrace them. I feel like our message in this video is in line with his spirit.”

“When Tom’s fans watch this video. I hope they feel the same way I felt hearing the song for the first time: Something new, yet something nostalgic and familiar.”

Wildflowers & All the Rest arrived in its deluxe edition back in October this year. The expanded reissue includes a stack previously unreleased outtakes, live and home recordings and much more. Get Wildflowers & All The Rest on vinyl, HERE.
