This week marks the second anniversary of the tragic passing of Soundgarden frontman, Chris Cornell. To commemorate the occasion, Rage Against the Machine guitarist and the Audioslave bandmate, Tom Morello paid tribute to Cornell with this tribute at the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Joined by System of a Down frontman, Serj Tankian, the duo played the Audioslave classic “Like A Stone,”. After performing a medley of riffs, Morello was joined by Tankian on stage to perform Cornell’s vocals for the tribute song. The pair encouraged the crowd to get into the moment and sing along, raising their arms in unison during the chorus, before Morello dived into a signature soaring mind-bending guitar solo.

In 2017, the world lost an amazing artist with the sudden passing of Chris Cornell. As Spin reports, since his death, many artists have paid tribute to the late singer, including Pearl Jam, Seether, Heart, Alice in Chains, and more. Tankian has previously joined Morello’s band Prophets of Rage to perform “Like A Stone” in the past, notably joining them at Germany’s Rock am Ring festival in 2017.

Chris Cornell was arguably the most powerful and operatic voices in grunge. In memory of the mesmerising frontman, get into the This Is Chris Cornell playlist on Spotify:
