Neil Young is gearing up to release his 39th album at the end of this week, a milestone reserved for a select few prolific creators! Earlier this year, Young and his band Crazy Horse reunited at Studio in the Clouds near Telluride, Colorado, working with guitarist, Nils Lofgren (for the first time since 1971), to record their follow-up to 2012’s Psychedelic Pill. The appropriately titled, Colorado, is due for release on Friday, October 25th.
Young had cameras rolling the entire time, giving fans a priceless behind-the-scenes experience of the recording process. The footage has been compiled into a feature-length film called Mountaintop, described in an official statement: “Witness the laughter, tensions, crusty attitudes and love of a rock & roll band that’s been together for 50 years as they share their passion, first and foremost… for the music.” Watch the trailer below:

Young originally told fans that Neil Young and Crazy Horse were planning to tour later this year, but he decided to put the shows on hold to focus on an upcoming slate of archival movies. “We will be in the editing suites for the duration of 2019,” he wrote in a post on the Neil Young Archives website. “Thanks for coming to our shows! We plan to be back in 2020!”
Mountaintop is described as: "A raw and extremely unfiltered look at the process of Neil Young with Crazy Horse making their 1st album in 7 years." More info here.
