We stumbled across this 1978 performance and interview with Van Halen on Japanese TV and thought it worth sharing just for the giggles.

You can't say they don't give it 100% even if blatantly miming, and it can't be easy answering questions when you clearly don't understand the host. Looks like a lot of fun, regardless!

Van Halen really started to hit their stride in the late 70s and this version of The Kinks' classic taken from their debut self-titled album was a springboard into bigger opportunities such as touring with Black Sabbath. David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen renowned for putting on an impeccable live show.

Van Halen released 13 singles in Japan between 1978 and 1984. That collection is now available as an extremely limited 7” vinyl set. Each replica single features the original sleeve artwork and comes housed in a cigarette-style box. Get it here!

David Lee Roth has been a resident of Tokyo since 2012 so it's fair to say that Japan had a residing impact on him! He studies martial arts, in addition to learning Japanese and working in his recording studio there.
