Last week, the estate of Whitney Houston signed a deal with Primary Wave Music, a boutique music and marketing company in New York and have now begun planning a hologram tour, with the prospect for a new album of previously unreleased material.

Pat Houston, the sole executor of the late singer’s estate, has spoken of plans to also release a Broadway musical and a “Vegas-style spectacle”.

“It’s been quite emotional for the past seven years,” Pat said, referencing the estate’s lack of asset exploitation in the wake of Whitney’s death. “But now it’s about being strategic,” the singer’s sister-in-law and former manager added.

Pat explained further that the hologram tour and other projects will be in an effort to reclaim Whitney’s legacy: “Before she passed, there was so much negativity around the name; it wasn’t about the music anymore. People had forgotten how great she was. They let all the personal things about her life outweigh why they fell in love with her in the first place.” [via NME]

At her peak, Whitney Houston was a pop-culture juggernaut with a voice of unsurpassable gold. The powerhouse singer had 11 No. 1 hits, sold tens of millions of albums around the world, and with the blockbuster 1992 film “The Bodyguard” joined an elite category of stars with equal success in music and the movies.

Larry Mestel, Primary Wave’s founder reflects: “Whitney was America’s sweetheart, and the idea now is to remind people that that is what her legacy is.”
