The internet is a weird and wonderful place! The latest viral star comes in the form of a cat who bears an uncanny resemblance to the late, great Freddie Mercury.

Mostaccioli – which means “moustaches” in Italian – is a black and white cat from California whose Instagram page has over 11,000 followers because, as the cat’s owners and Queen fans alike agree, has a moustache just like the iconic singer. 

Fair to say, the post has attracted a plethora of cat puns… “Don’t stop me-owww” and “Freddie Purrcury” top the list for us.

Mostaccioli’s social media profile is managed by her owner Natalie, a veterinarian officer worker who discovered Mostaccioli in a litter of stray kittens in 2020 and decided to adopt her. The page raises money for Cats Of San Bernardino who are “dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in the city of San Bernardino, CA”. So far, her growing fame has raised over $10,000 for the non-profit organisation. Check out her profile below!

And it’s a very fitting tribute! Freddie Mercury’s partner Jim Hutton, recalled his love for cats during an interview on BBC 2, saying the legendary frontman – who, at one point, housed ten felines – “treated [his] cats like his own children.” 

“He would constantly fuss over them, and if any of them came to any harm when Freddie was away, heaven help us,” he continued. “During the day, the cats had the run of the house and grounds, and at night, one of us would round them up and bring them inside.
