As mentioned previously, this month is the 40th Anniversary of the Ramones' great third album Rocket To Russia, the album that some consider to be the band's pop masterpiece. If that's how you view it, then your favourite track is probably Dee Dee's top pop pick "Rockaway Beach", which was released internationally as the first single off the album.

In the meantime, we want to do a bit of celebrating ourselves with a focus on "Rockaway Beach". We present for your enjoyment some of the original picture sleeves for the single release, together with the original album version, and then a sweet acoustic reading of the song from Tommy Ramone. Rocket To Russia was, of course, Tommy's last album as a Ramones member, and, at the time of this recording for Time Out New York in 2012, he was the sole surviving member of the original band. Tommy sadly joined Joey, Dee Dee and Johnny in Ramones heaven a couple of years later.
