The country icon has previewed 12-track LP, arriving March 4th, with the song Big Dreams And Faded Jeans. “So many people come to Nashville with their sack of songs,” Parton said in a statement about the project’s first single.
“Whether they’re running from anything or not, they’re running towards a future. That’s what ‘Big Dreams And Faded Jeans’ is all about. I am so pleased to finally share the first song from this exciting new album with all of you!”

The country icon first announced her debut novel, Run, Rose, Run, back in August last year. The work is set to arrive in Mach this year along with the accompanying full-length album.
The book has been co-authored by legendary US fiction writer James Patterson – aka world's bestselling author, best known for his enduring fictional characters and crime series, including Alex Cross, Women's Murder and more – who describes his collaboration with Dolly as “a new thriller about a young singer/songwriter [Rose] on the rise and on the run…and determined to do whatever it takes to survive!”
The story is set in Parton’s hometown of Nashville Tennessee, where the central character moves “to claim her destiny”, however, as in all good thrillers, there’s a twist and she soon discovers that “it’s also where the darkness she’s fled might find her”.
The accompanying album of the same name, Run, Rose, Run, features 12 new original tracks that were “written based on the characters and situations in the book,” Parton explained. Lyrics to these will also be included in the book.
Patterson said in a statement: “It’s been an honour – and a hell of a lot of fun – to work with the inimitable Dolly Parton, whom I’ve long admired for her music, her storytelling, and her enormous generosity.”
“The mind-blowing thing about this project is that reading the novel is enhanced by listening to the album and vice versa. It’s a really unique experience that I know readers (and listeners) will love.”
At 75 years old, Run, Rose, Run marks Dolly’s first foray into fiction, however, the singer has previously co-authored a number of memoirs. Most recently, Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life In Lyrics, was released in November 2020.
Run, Rose, Run is due out on March 7, 2022, via Penguin Random House (UK) – you can pre-order your copy in various formats from here.
