Green Day has shared a preview from the upcoming 25th anniversary edition of Nimrod, which is set to arrive on January 27th. Pre-order, here.
The punk legends have shared a previously unreleased demo of Elvis Costello’s song Alison, featuring just Billie Joe Armstrong’s vocal and electric guitar, that was recorded during the 1997 sessions. It’s one of 14 demos to be unveiled on Nimrod 25, three of which are previously unreleased.
Alison was first released on Costello’s debut album, My Aim Is True in 1977 and, despite never charting, has become one of his most famous songs. Listen to Green Day's stripped-back rendition below!
Green Day | ‘Alison’ [Demo]
Nimrod, Green Day’s fifth studio album, was originally released on October 14, 1997. The album’s global success was driven by the hit singles Hitchin’ A Ride, Redundant, Nice Guys Finish Last and the anthemic smash, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).
The 25th Anniversary Edition includes the original album, one disc of previously unreleased Nimrod demos, and a live set from Philadelphia recorded one month after Nimrod was released. The 14-track demos disc includes two unreleased Green Day tracks, You Irritate Me and Tre Polka.
