Mr. Bungle, featuring Faith No More's Mike Patton at the helm, have shared a thrashing cover of the 1980 Van Halen classic, “Loss of Control” that was recorded during their 2020 Halloween Livestream concert.

The cover was performed just weeks after the passing of legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen, who Mike Patton described to Consequence of Sound as the “mountain of rock guitarists.”

And it’s not about flash — everyone wants to talk about his [finger] tapping. There’s a real deep musicianship in what he was doing. And we’re gonna miss him.”

Mr. Bungle guitarist Trey Spruance confessed that the band “tried to play this song in the ’90s and we scrapped it because we sucked at it.”

He continued: “I think it worked this time for a lot of reasons. My own is that, thanks to the new Raging Wrath era, I’ve had to re-approach the guitar like I did when I was 13 and 14. It was all about Eddie Van Halen for me back then, so circling back at this moment felt really natural. Those riffs and lead parts at least are super fun!“
