ILYOS Album Of The Week - Shake It Up

Posted

The wait is over. The new deluxe edition of The Cars’ Shake It Up is available from your favorite music retailer now, here.

In April, The Cars were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which seemed like a sufficiently momentous occasion to bring out the latest two deluxe reissues of albums from the band’s back catalog. (Shake It Up and Heartbeat City). Available in deluxe form on both CD and as double-LP sets, not to mention digitally. It features the original album, rare and previously unreleased bonus tracks, illustrated booklets, liner notes by noted rock journalist David Fricke, and new interviews with band member David Robinson.

Originally released in 1981, it was the last album by the Cars to be produced by Roy Thomas Baker. A much more pop-oriented album than its predecessor, its title track became their first Billboard top ten hit.
