IS THIS THE GREATEST GUITAR JAM OF ALL TIME?

Posted

As part of a documentary called It Might Get Loud, released in 2008, three of rock’s most prolific guitarists got together to discuss some of their iconic riffs. Each with a signature style and sound, here’s possibly one of the greatest jams of all time between Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White.

The guitar riff from "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes first came to Jack White when he was in Australia and went on to become one of the most instantly recognisable riffs of the 2000s. Released in 2003 on the American duo’s Elephant album, it was a global hit and is still a staple on rock radio now.

Watch Jack White explain the parts of the riff with icons Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin and The Edge from U2.

The Edge chooses "I Will Follow" as the U2 song to talk through and showcase. It is the opening track from U2's debut album Boy and the lyrics were written by Bono about his Mother who passed away when he was young.

Finally, Jimmy Page then goes on to explain the structure and story behind the guitar parts of Kashmir, one of Led Zeppelin’s most iconic songs. The other two had probably only ever dreamt of this moment for most of thier lives.
