Today, June 6, celebrates the 40th Anniversary since the release of The Cars debut self-titled album, marking today as National Cars Day!
Fans of the band are encouraged to share their Cars memories on social media using the hashtag #NationalCarsDay
A band that really owned the New Wave scene of the 70s and 80s, The Cars were named "Best New Artist" in the 1978 Rolling Stone Readers' Poll and won Video of the Year for "You Might Think" at the first-ever MTV Video Music Awards in 1984. Their debut album, The Cars, sold six million copies and stayed on the Billboard album chart for a whopping 139 weeks.
