Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau Announce Duo Album

Posted

Exciting news for contemporary jazz fans. Long-time friends and collaborators, saxophonist Joshua Redman and pianist Brad Mehldau, are set to release their first duo album Nearness on Nonesuch on September 9. They have also announced they will come to Australia in October.

Redman and Mehldau were first here in 2012, when they played the Sydney Festival and Melbourne’s Recital Centre – this time it’s the Melbourne Festival (a duo show, and a solo show from Brad), as well as shows in Sydney and Brisbane.

Great reviews already coming in for their Nearness record from the UK:
‘A John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner for the 21st century.’ – Q
‘Magic always seems to happen when saxophonist Joshua Redman and pianist Brad Mehldau play together.  This new album clearly shows that despite their infrequent collaborations, they create a special telepathic musical synergy in each other’s company.’ – Mojo

Nearness is available to order now.
