Two previously unheard versions of David Bowie's, Karma Man and Silly Boy Blue (Alternative Ending Mix), have been shared.
The rarities will feature on both the upcoming David Bowie 5. Brilliant Adventure (1992-2001) and Toy boxsets, which are set to arrive on November 26 and January 7, respectively.
Karma Man is the second single shared from Bowie’s legendary lost album, Toy. He first debuted the song on John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show in 1968, before releasing it officially on his 1970 LP, The World Of David Bowie. In 2000, he re-recorded Karma Man with his glorious Glastonbury band – Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell, Gail Ann Dorsey, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner – for his anticipated Toy album, which was ultimately shelved before release. Toy co-producer Mark Plati said in a statement, “When I re-listened to these tracks, the sound of fall 2000 came flooding out of the speakers, from a song I’d not heard since then. I’m not too proud to say I shed a bit of a tear, something that happened a few times while mixing it.”
The original Karma Man mix has now been shared along with an unreleased alternative ending mix of Silly Boy Blue, hailing all the way back to Bowie’s 1967 self-titled debut album. Listen below.
