In a recent interview with SirusXM, OutKast‘s Big Boi has teased a possible collaboration with non-other than, Kate Bush could feature on his upcoming album, saying, “I love Kate Bush. That’s my people, man.”

“My uncle turned me on to her since I was like in 8th grade. And this is like my mom’s brother, like the weirdo brother. He turned me on to Kate and Fleetwood Mac and Sting and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and he just listened to everything. So I grew up listening to Bob Marley too, and my top two artists of all time is 1A and 1B, Bob Marley and Kate Bush. And then No. 2 would be N.W.A.” he added.

But it’s not the first time the rapper has professed his love for the elusive singer – by far. You could say he’s been one of her most vocal fans in recent times. In a 2018 feature for Pitchfork, Big Boi delivered a poetic critique of Kate Bush’s 1985 hit, “Running Up That Hill” for their VERSES series, describing – with pure admiration – the sort of wild and secluded Phantom of the Opera character he would imagine as her to be as he pedalled his bike to school, blaring Kate Bush from his Walkman.

Big Boi also appeared in the BBC’s 2014 Bush documentary, also titled Running Up That Hill, where he confimed the reclusive pop star to be one of his biggest musical influences.

In his most recent interview with SirusXM, Big Boi reminisced about travelling to London in 2014 to attend Kate’s historic Before The Dawn residency at the Hammersmith Apollo, which was her first live concert since 1979.

“Oh, it was wonderful, Before The Dawn. It was super-dope to go in and just to see all the songs play out onstage and the theatrical everything,” he said. “And at the end of the show, she invited me and my wife back to the dressing room to have a glass of wine.”

He then went on to tease her possible appearance on his upcoming joint album, Big Sleepover with Sleepy Brown, saying,“Stay tuned, stay tuned. Just stay tuned. … I can’t even talk about it right now!”

We’re most definitely staying tuned! You can listen to the whole interview, here.
