It’s been 30 years since English alt-rockers, Swervedriver first formed in 1989, quickly establishing themselves as one of the leading forces of the UK alternative scene. Over the course of a decade, they released four studio albums and numerous EPs, combining psychedelia, pop and indie rock to create their signature sound.

In the early '90s, Swervedriver were an oddity in the British shoegaze scene. Unlike their contemporaries in My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Slowdive, they liked to rock. The band toured relentlessly, landing in Australia for an extensive run with Powerderfinger at their peak in 1998 before taking a decade long extended hiatus. Swervedriver returned to Australia in 2013 to perform their debut album Raise (1991) in its entirety and then stayed on to embark on their first full-length album in 17 years, I Wasn’t Born To Lose You (2015) at Birdland Studios in Melbourne. Although it would be two years before the album was released, it was a triumphant return that put them right back on top of the alt-rock alter.

Now, they are set to return to Australian shores once again, this time in support of their latest record, Future Ruins that was released in January of this year. Kicking things off at Melbourne’s Croxton Bandroom in September, the group – comprised of mainstays Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge, drummer Mikey Jones, and bassist Mick Quinn – will then hit up Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.
