According to the ad, the pub remains “unchanged to this day” from when Bowie arrived in 1983 to film the music video for “Let’s Dance”. Watch below:

The video features Terry Roberts and Joelene King, who were students at the Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre at the time. Directed by David Mallet, the clip was Bowie's attempt to bring Australia’s systemic racism to light. He was inspired to do something after “it occurred to [him] that one doesn’t have much time on the planet," he told Rolling Stone in a 1983 interview.

"I could do something more useful in terms of… I know this is very cliché, but I feel that now that I’m 36 years old, and I’ve got a certain position, I want to start utilising that position to the benefit of my… brotherhood and sisterhood," he said at the time. “The message that [the videos for ‘Let’s Dance’ and ‘China Girl’] have is very simple –– it’s wrong to be racist!”

Now, almost 40 years on, Carinda has become a pilgrimage of sorts for Bowie fans who make the trek to visit the pub and join in the celebrations of all things Bowie at the town's annual 'Let’s Dance Carinda' event. Inspections of the property will be available from mid-April. When you think about it, $220,000 is a bargain for such an integral piece of music history. Just to put it into context – it’s cheaper than Kurt Cobain’s sweater!
