The Songs That Shaped Paul Weller

Posted

In a recent interview with the NME Paul Weller spoke fondly of some of the records that he remembers as “firsts” in his life including The Beatles, Status Quo and James Brown.

The first song Paul Weller remembers hearing was “Good Golly Miss Molly” by Little Richard

The first song he fell in love with was “She Loves You” by The Beatles

The first live gig he went to was Status Quo live in 1972

An avid fan of The Beatles, the first album he ever bought was Sgt. Pepper’s.

Paul Weller’s favourite song to dance to is “Sex Machine” but we’re not convinced he can pull off these moves as well as James Brown can.

Paul Weller’s solo album A Kind Revolution was released last month. Take a look at the making of the record and see if you can pick up elements that have been obviously inspired by his childhood heroes.
