When it comes to rock and roll, Fleetwood Mac songstress Stevie Nicks is the reigning queen. And Led Zeppelin? They go down as one of the biggest bands in the history of rock, iconized for their electrifying live shows. So, it only makes sense that these two powerhouse rock acts would eventually crossover.

Back in 2007, Nicks paid homage to her hard-rocking peers with a fierce cover of Led Zeppelin’s classic single Rock and Roll, from their adrenalized 1971 LP, The Song Remains The Same. Putting aside her saccharine Fleetwood vocals, Nicks proves how she earned the crown with her soaring delivery, channelling the raucous spirit of Zeppelin while making it her own.

Stevie Nicks | ‘Rock and Roll’

Rock and Roll, is one of Led Zeppelin’s most well-known songs. It came as a timely reminder that the band could rock harder than any of their peers after a critic had pointed out the lack of stadium shaking rockers on their previous LP, Led Zeppelin III.

“Speaking to Creem in 1988, Plant opined, “We just thought rock and roll needed to be taken on again. I was finally in a really successful band, and we felt it was time for actually kicking ass. It wasn’t an intellectual thing, ’cause we didn’t have time for that – we just wanted to let it all come flooding out. It was a very animal thing, a hellishly powerful thing, what we were doing.”
